My name is Talia Musson (née Kingi). I’m a blend of Waikato and Ngāpuhi, but my whakapapa also carries a rainbow pinwheel of DNA, with tīpuna tracing back to Northern and Central Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific. Born and raised in the Waikato, and still living here i teenei waa.
I’m a one-waahine maaori graphic design pakihi (business) and have been self-employed for 14 years. I believe in the power of the right connection between client and designer. If you like my design style and quiet confidence, then we’ll work together like doughboys and boil-up.
While Toru Whaa is mostly a one-waahine pakihi, my husband Ian (Ngaati Porou) occasionally jumps in to handle “business.” He thrives on all those things like public engagements, whatever a business canvas model is, and strategic direction. He has a passion for inspiring and nurturing rangatahi in the start-up space and works for Young Enterprise doing said mahi, but every now and then he’ll jump on a side quest under the guise of Toru Whaa.
